Yeshiva - IDF Partnership

Our students in the army

At the end of their first year in the Yeshiva, the Hesder students undergo a formal process of induction into the army though they remain learning in the Yeshiva for one more year. After this second year they are actively inducted and serve in the IDF for a period of 14 to 16 months. Usually, about 80% of the students serve in combat units (such as infantry, armored corps and artillery) and the rest turn to combat-support units such as intelligence.

 Keeping in contact

At any given time there are about 40 of the Yeshiva's students on active duty in the Israeli army, about 10-15 of whom are officers and commanders.

The Yeshiva maintains ongoing contact with its soldiers through a bi-weekly bulletin and active visits of its rabbis in army bases.
